Number 9! What's up with that?

O.K. I can't be the only one who thinks it is patently absurd that we are number 9 on this list solely because they failed to assess the damage to Devi and Casey's house during the last Comet survey. That and the weighting of criteria based on population density instead of child density. Who wants or needs a playground where there are no kids?! Are others as perplexed by the distribution and assessment of these criteria as I am? Please let the Parks Commissioners know. Come to the next meeting this Thursday at City Hall, or get a bunch of your neighbors to e mail them ASAP. And feel free to post a copy of your messages under the comments below. I'd love to hear what others have to say.

Draft Bond Criteria Selection Process

Dawn Kamalanathan, Planning Division from Rec/Park has drafted these criteria for the upcoming 2008 Bond Measure. She would like to get your input. Please post your comments by clicking on "comments" below. She would like to know which criteria merits the highest amount of weight, and if the criteria seem fair to you in evaluating all the projects for the bond measure, not just for Cabrillo Playground. The Comet survey she refers to in the criteria is posted here. It is an evaluation performed by an engineering form that grades our playground and assesses the relative cost of repair versus replacement of the facilities. Cabrillo scores high at 88%, which means it is more worthwhile to replace the equipment than repair it. Thank you!

Cabrillo Playground Blog Initiation

Welcome to our blog! Here we will be posting our announcements and recent photos and it will become an archive of our activities. We have been approached by Park and Rec to give input on the criteria which will be put in place to assess programs for the 2008 bond measure. We will be posting the working draft of these criteria on the blog and you will have an opportunity to post your comments and make a difference.

Meanwhile, spread the word about our group and our website and get us the e mails of all our neighbors!
